NZUSI Resident's Assembly

Updated: Jan 28

NZUSI Resident Assembly 2024

The North Zone Chapter of Urological Society of India with its new motto- ‘RAISE and RISE’ successfully organized First Resident’s Assembly Meeting on Jan 14, 2024. A meeting attended by over 100 urologists and residents was a true amalgamation of academics in urology, much needed for our trainees, incorporating clinical case presentation, journal clubs, surgical videos, drug highlights and a sparkling discussion on the need of improving residency training in India.  The clinical case presentations on urethral trauma helped in understanding intricacies of the management of this complex disease. The journal clubs on uro-oncology and reconstructive urology helped answering pertinent questions for clinical practice and helped our residents to learn critical appraisal of a research paper. The next section involved the tips and tricks of performing transurethral resection of bladder tumor. As rightly said- ‘TURBT is surgery easy to perform but difficult to master’, our faculties highlighted the key learning points while doing a safe and effective TURBT. Resident training in urology in India has witnessed a revolutionizing change and with COVID-19 pandemic, virtual and simulated training received a major boom, still the gaps in our training do exist and need further measures. This assembly then culminated with the mind-boggling discussion on alpha blockers- ‘Yes!!!--- I tell you it is not as simple- we all know it so well, but we also truly know so little of it.’ It was a much-needed discussion for all and opened the eyes of so many of us. The event concluded with a vote of thanks!!
